Foxgloves & Fireflies: Update #1

Folks, it’s time. Time for another update, and time for some long-expected housekeeping here at Anonymous Anxiety.

If you haven’t noticed, the site has been updated over the course of the past few weeks. I’ve made things a bit cleaner, and I’ve worked hard to organize old blog posts as efficiently as possible. Hopefully my effort will have paid off, and hopefully it’s all a bit more pleasing to look at whenever you swing by.

Some other news: I have a linktree now, and it serves to unite all of my creative endeavors and social outlets in one easy-to-use hub area, sort of like Peach’s castle from Mario 64. Feel free to jump into any painting you’d like (including that one that takes you to my experimental music project. I’m quite proud of that one!)

But now, it’s time for the main course. I’m sure you’ve noticed the title of today’s blog post. That’s right— I have news to share about Foxgloves & Fireflies!

Admittedly, I wish I had better news about F&F. I wish I could say that the first draft is complete (it’s not). I wish I could say that I’ve been making tremendous amounts of progress (I haven’t, at least not as much as I would like). But what I can say is that Fireflies on Cane Street, the second “part” of the novel, is near completion. Hooray!

This particular story has grown so much in scope, scale, and size over the course of its development. Originally, it was intended to be far shorter than part one of the novel. Now, it’s significantly larger— both in length and in density of content.

I can’t wait to share it with the world. I’ve grown close to its characters and I want so badly for other people to know them like I do.

Soon, I plan to launch a bit of a campaign to draw attention to F&F, Anonymous Anxiety, and the writing process of this novel altogether. Hopefully, by the time everything is said and done, I’ll have a few people who are as excited as I am to get this book in their hands.

Before I go, here’s something new: snippets! I’ll be sharing little snippets of the novel in each blog post from here on out. Be sure to watch for new posts at least once every two weeks!

I’m writing next to the window now. It’s raining. I think Spring is here, so maybe it’s finally time for it to stop teasing me with warm afternoons followed by freezing sunsets. The phone is ringing in the kitchen. I’m not getting out of bed to answer it.
There are no fireflies outside. They’ve been gone since Easter.
